Editing Guide

Those wishing to add to our fine collection of articles should read through our Editing Guide. It contains simple guidelines on templates, categories, and a few other things that you may want to know. As with everything wiki, we are sure this will grow and improve, but it is off to a good start - thank you to all the admins who assisted in it's creation.

New Template in Town

There is a new template for Clothing (Hats, Robes, and Boots). See the documentation for a better way to enter your information. Along with this comes the need to transfer all the existing Clothing items to the new template and creating the resulting categories. There is currently about 407 Hats, 360 Robes, and 351 Boots in the database, so all the help we can get on the transfer is greatly appreciated.

Turn red to blue

This is one of the two primary goals, this means that if, on your journeys through the wiki, you see a red link and know what is supposed to be there please click the link, load the appropriate template and create - this will help with the second primary goal, Wizard City Cleanup. There is still a lot of information missing in the Wizard City pages, some of it will take months (or years) to collate, but if you see something missing and you know or can easily get the answer please fill it in!

Retired Items

We are still looking for images of Zeke's retired items. We still endeavor to document all of the items that were for sale and their stats. Our admin team is direly in need of a source of the items that were sold in Marleybone and Moo Shu. (An admin has a complete list of the Wizard City and Krokotopia Items.) Anyone with one of the retired items please begin a new article with the item's name as the title. Any contributions are greatly appreciated!

Look for 5,000

We are quickly approaching the five thousand page milestone - which would be a major accomplishment for any wiki, especially for a wiki as young as ours! It will mean a little work updating some of the central wikia pages and hopefully we can put a nice blurb to go up on their news page!

Housing, we are still in need the housing items! Everything you can contribute such as new drops and quest rewards is greatly appreciated.

Page Count Growth

We have topped 4,200 pages! Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this wiki!

RCWizard has gone bugnuts, but we feel that since he's working on the backend those edits are simply administrative. Having said that - there are a few new contributers that have been helping a great deal, but with a virtual tie between Rotomthe3rd and StaindRaindrop being our stand out editors over the last couple weeks, constantly working to improve the wiki in every way possible.

As usual thank-you to everyone who has added and edited, you are what makes a wiki!

Vandalism / Editing Policy

With our growing presence as a source for Wizard 101 info vandalism is also on the rise - a few user's have already been granted rollback rights to help fight the growing amount of gibberish and nonsense that has been inserted into pages over the last week - sometimes at the cost of content. We are all trying to catch these pages quickly but if you see any please report, either via problem report or an email to the admins. If you know wiki editing well enough to fix the problem feel free to give it a shot, please report even if you fix it so admins can follow up.

We are now handing out bans for all vandalism. Malicious, repeated vandalism or vandalism that erases content will get longer bans - if you wish to appeal the ban you will have to contact admin.

On a side note we just wanted to share what is probably our only content restriction policy as admins - which is spoilers. We are trying very hard not to reveal too much in the main pages, hence the discussion tab. Anything which is a spoiler of any type should be placed on the discussion tab - and will quite likely be moved if it is not. Anything which reveals story ie talking about marleybone story in a wizard city quest, solves puzzles or quests and walkthrough type comments all belong on the discussion tab.

Wizard101 Extended Downtime

Wizard101 the game will be offline during an extended maintenance period of 3am to 6am Central US Time on Thursday August 27th 2009.

During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and players who are in the game will be prompted to log out.

This maintenance allows us to repair a PvP bug.

Thank you for your patience while we continue to improve the game for all of our players.

Wizard101 Maintenance

Wizard101 the game will be offline during an extended maintenance period of 3am to approximately 5am Central US Time on Wednesday July 29th. During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and players who are in the game will be prompted to log out. During this downtime we will be addressing the following issues:

Player vs Player Points Adjustment During the July 29th maintenance downtime, we will be adjusting the Player vs Player points.

Due to an issue with the Player vs Player ranking system, players were erroneously being awarded increased PvP points after a duel.

To resolve this issue, we decided not to reset everyone's Player vs Player points back to 500, but instead we chose to only reset those points that appear to have been incorrectly calculated.

To ensure a fair playing field, all scores above 950 have been reduced to 950. This will not affect the PvP Titles or Arena Tickets you have earned.

Bazaar Pricing Discrepancies During the July 29th maintenance downtime, we will be addressing some of Elik's purchase prices for items that he previously was not giving full value for.

Elik promised he would give a better value for items than the regular shopkeepers, and we are holding him to his word.

After the update, if you still find an item that sells for more at the regular shopkeepers than at the Bazaar, please submit a bug report and let us know the exact item and the prices.

Maximum Level/Grandmaster XP

Wizard101 friends, fans, and customers,

When we first envisioned our sixth world we saw it as a world Wizards would experience after Dragonspyre. This world would have increased the maximum level beyond 50 and the supporting content (new spells, equipment, etc) necessary for the max level increase. However, when we dug into the overall Wizard101 game play and what would best serve our community we decided to launch Grizzleheim, a world that created a parallel experience and offered new content and experiences as players leveled thru the entire game and the other five worlds. While we hope that high level characters find the content enjoyable and engaging the immediate downside to this decision was that no level increase was introduced with this world.

Our decision to launch Grizzleheim also afforded us the ability to address several features that you, our community, had asked for. Features like the ability to group with other Wizards, control friend requests, trade request and new systems like crafting and the bazaar. We felt they were good, valuable additions, and so we made a decision to include them for all players new and old to enjoy.

That said, we did mention to our highest level players that the level cap would be raised this summer and we were not able to make that goal a reality. We apologize for that and would like say that we are continuing forward with plans to release new worlds that do push Wizards beyond level 50. In order to accomplish it, we need to make sure there are new opponents, quests, worlds, spells, and more.

If you’re close to or already at level 50, we invite you to explore Grizzleheim, the new crafting system, and the Bazaar and hope you are interested in seeing what new things we have in store for you soon.

Thank you for playing Wizard101!

Wizard101’s Test Realm is now Open for the Weekend!

From our player feedback, we've taken a look at the Bazaar and added sorting of items as well as improved the overall experience with the Bazaar.

We need you, our players, to spend some time in the Test Realm at the Bazaar and really test out how the new system works. Buy and sell as much as you can, and remember what you do on the Test Realm in no way affects your Live Realm characters.

Once you've given the new Bazaar experience a thorough testing, post your feedback on the Test Realm section of the message boards.

To learn how you can participate in this Test Realm, please see our Sneak Peek Page.
