Letter to the Wizard101 Community
To the Wizard101 Community:
As many of you are aware, we are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with the Wizard101 game service. As we work through these issues, we are temporarily limiting the number of players who can log into the game at one time. We’ve made this change due to the large number of players trying to log in simultaneously, which has led to noticeable delays when connecting to the game.
We will allow more and more players into the world as the issues are resolved. Login priority will be given first to paying customers, followed by our free player community. Also note that this delay is being caused on initial login only; there are no delays once you have entered the game, and subsequent attempts to connect should be noticeably faster.
Thank you for being patient as we work through these issues. We understand that this is an inconvenience, and we are doing everything we can to address it as quickly as possible.

Ravenwood School of Magical Arts Welcomes Spring Competition
WIZARD CITY, The Spiral (March 5, 2010) – The winds of spring are blowing across Wizard City, and with them come the fresh spirit of competition. Inspired by Earth’s finest athletes at their winter games, Wizards from every school and many worlds of the Spiral are ready to set forth on grand new adventures with their loyal pets alongside them, with exciting new activities and fresh challenges soon to come.
When asked what’s in store for pet-owners, Merle Ambrose, headmaster of Ravenwood School of Magical Arts, replied: “This spring, pets will be able to do more than you have ever dared hope! These fine creatures will serve alongside you in wonderful new ways, taking you to unseen parts of familiar worlds, and in time to come, worlds beyond those you know! If you think you have seen all that the Spiral has to offer, young Wizard, you will soon discover an all new breed of entertainment!”
When asked to elaborate, Ambrose replied cryptically, “The answer you seek may be in the stars... or it just might be there alongside you.”
The Price of Exploiting
Recently players found an exploit that allowed them to unfairly obtain the new winged mounts.
Players who participated in this exploit will have the items removed from their accounts. We will be recovering the item(s) and issuing a credit to the account equal to the gold amount paid. Players may experience disconnects while this inventory recall takes place. Players are welcome to re-purchase the item(s) according to the posted Crown pricing.
New! New! New!
Starting in the early hours of February 18th, the SHOP will carry some new items!
New Mounts! One of the most requested Mount additions has been a pair of wings, and we've got TWO for you to choose from: Seraph Wings and Bat Wings. Both types of wings can be purchased for either gender! These Mounts are only available to purchase from the Crowns Shop for Crowns, but they can also be found on high level bosses of the Spiral!
New Weapons Sometimes a wand just doesn't make quite the statement you were going for, so here are three Epic Weapons: The Ascendant Staff, the Phosphorescent Maul and the Cerulean Edge! Like the new Mounts, these weapons are only available to purchase from the Crowns Shop for Crowns, but they can also be found on high level bosses of the Spiral!
New Outfits Those of you who remember the old retired Crowns gear will rejoice, these two new Epic outfits are made up from very powerful items with crazy powerful stats and cards! These items DO have a level restriction on them, but any level Wizard can buy them! If you see a small lock icon on these items in the SHOP that only indicates you cannot WEAR the item now, but you can purchase it, and store it for later. Again, these items are only available to purchase from the Crowns Shop for Crowns, but they can also be found on high level bosses of the Spiral (the bosses drop the individual items, not the entire sets).
These high level additions are just the beginning of new items that will be introduced to the Crowns Shop, because a young Wizard must be prepared for things to come....

Test the Limits
We've opened the Test Realm for just a couple of days, and we're asking you the players to test the limits! We want to see how many players can be in one area at a time, and the best way we can do that is to ask you to join us for a party at the Stormdrain tower!
At the end of Triton Avenue's Haunted Cave lies an area surrounding Stormdrain Tower. Please take a moment to run there, change Realms, mark and recall, dance and generally have fun!
If you happen to encounter a crashing problem, please send the report that appears after Wizard101 shuts down.
KingsIsle employees will drop by from time to time to visit, so watch for our KingsIsle Support badges, and remember they're not a KingsIsle employee unless they have the badge!

See you there!
KingsIsle’s Wizard101 Community Raises $126,000 for Children’s Charities
Plano, TX (Jan. 11, 2010) – Wizard101 players showed their strength as a community in benefiting two worthy organizations – Austin Children’s Shelter and Child’s Play. From Dec. 14 to Jan. 5, players were able to purchase an in-game riding mount, the “Meowmodon”, for approximately $15 with all proceeds from the sales going to the two charities. The $126,000 raised by Wizard101 players will be evenly distributed between the charities. The endeavor was the first for the award-winning, magic-themed massively multiplayer online (MMO) game.
Wizard101 selected the two beneficiaries – Austin Children’s Shelter and Child’s Play – to support the local Austin community as well as the global gaming community. Austin Children’s Shelter provides emergency shelter and care for abused and neglected children, and Child’s Play is a game industry charity dedicated to providing games and toys to children in hospitals worldwide.
“Wizard101 fans have shown that there truly is strength in numbers,” said Elie Akilian, CEO of KingsIsle Entertainment. “We were thrilled to see the Wizard101 community band together to benefit these two great organizations.”

Wizard101 Unveils New Mount to Raise Money for Children’s Charities
Sales of “Meowmodon” to support Child’s Play and the Austin Children’s Shelter
We are proud to give our players and their friends a unique way to support children this holiday season. The purchase of an in-game mount, the “Meowmodon”, will benefit the Austin Children’s Shelter and Child’s Play. The Austin Children’s Shelter provides emergency shelter and care for abused and neglected children and Child’s Play is a game industry charity dedicated to providing games and toys to children in hospitals worldwide.
The black and white Meowmodon resembles a large tiger and sells for 7,500 in-game Crowns per mount. For each Meowmodon mount sold, KingsIsle will donate the full amount (a retail value of approximately $15) to the two charities, divided equally. The Meowmodon is available for purchase through the in-game Crown Shop from December 14, 2009 through January 5, 2010.
“We have an opportunity to give back by tapping into the power of our Wizard101 community – our 5 million players can make a real difference to deserving children,” said Elie Akilian, CEO of KingsIsle Entertainment. “We chose these organizations because we wanted to support the communities that we are a part of – one located in the same city as our design studio and another with global reach, just like Wizard101.”
To see more regarding this visit the official Wizard101 website
Do you want to live in a tower of Fire, a Treehouse or a Jules Verne inspired Storm house? Now you can! Next time you log in to Wizard101 the game, click the SHOP button on your screen and look for the new house tab. There you can see new Castles & Lands for each of the Ravenwood Schools; Storm, Myth, Life, Ice, Fire, Death and Balance. Each Castle can be previewed with the small magnifying glass icon that appears when you select a house in that tab. These houses will have space for 250 items outside and 250 items inside! These houses do count towards your total of three houses per character, so players who already have three houses will have to sell one in order to purchase one of these School themed houses.
Coincidentally, Felix Navidad has finally arrived in the Spiral, better late than never! He brings with him an assortment of items to purchase for the Yuletide season, and he will only be in the Spiral for a short time. Like all our other holiday shopkeepers, he can be found near the fountain in the Wizard City Shopping District, and decorations can be found in the Ravenwood Commons.
For more information about small changes and updates that were made, please see our December Patch Notes here.

Wizard101 Extended Downtime
Wizard101 the game will be offline during an extended maintenance period of 3am to 6am Central US Time on Thursday August 27th 2009.
During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and players who are in the game will be prompted to log out.
This maintenance allows us to repair a PvP bug.
Thank you for your patience while we continue to improve the game for all of our players.
Wizard101 the game will be offline during an extended maintenance period of 3am to approximately 5am Central US Time on Wednesday July 29th. During this time, players will be unable to log in to the game, and players who are in the game will be prompted to log out. During this downtime we will be addressing the following issues:
Player vs Player Points Adjustment During the July 29th maintenance downtime, we will be adjusting the Player vs Player points.
Due to an issue with the Player vs Player ranking system, players were erroneously being awarded increased PvP points after a duel.
To resolve this issue, we decided not to reset everyone's Player vs Player points back to 500, but instead we chose to only reset those points that appear to have been incorrectly calculated.
To ensure a fair playing field, all scores above 950 have been reduced to 950. This will not affect the PvP Titles or Arena Tickets you have earned.
Bazaar Pricing Discrepancies During the July 29th maintenance downtime, we will be addressing some of Elik's purchase prices for items that he previously was not giving full value for.
Elik promised he would give a better value for items than the regular shopkeepers, and we are holding him to his word.
After the update, if you still find an item that sells for more at the regular shopkeepers than at the Bazaar, please submit a bug report and let us know the exact item and the prices.

Maximum Level/Grandmaster XP
Wizard101 friends, fans, and customers,
When we first envisioned our sixth world we saw it as a world Wizards would experience after Dragonspyre. This world would have increased the maximum level beyond 50 and the supporting content (new spells, equipment, etc) necessary for the max level increase. However, when we dug into the overall Wizard101 game play and what would best serve our community we decided to launch Grizzleheim(which is stupid and a waste of money by the way), a world that created a parallel experience and offered new content and experiences as players leveled thru the entire game and the other five worlds. While we hope that high level characters find the content enjoyable and engaging the immediate downside to this decision was that no level increase was introduced with this world.
Our decision to launch Grizzleheim also afforded us the ability to address several features that you, our community, had asked for. Features like the ability to group with other Wizards, control friend requests(by the way you should add Mark Dragon), trade request and new systems like crafting and the bazaar. We felt they were good, valuable additions, and so we made a decision to include them for all players new and old to enjoy.
That said, we did mention to our highest level players that the level cap would be raised this summer and we were not able to make that goal a reality. We apologize for that and would like say that we are continuing forward with plans to release new worlds that do push Wizards beyond level 50. In order to accomplish it, we need to make sure there are new opponents, quests, worlds, spells, and more.
If you’re close to or already at level 50, we invite you to explore Grizzleheim, the new crafting system, and the Bazaar and hope you are interested in seeing what new things we have in store for you soon.
Thank you for playing Wizard101!

July 8th Update
There will be an update to Wizard101 July 8th at 3am Central US Time that will include the following important updates!
Enhanced Boss Encounters Update
- The bosses of the Spiral have been taught a lesson by Merle Ambrose, and they will no longer interrupt your combat! All the Enhanced Boss Battles are back to normal, but the bosses have kept their knowledge of Power Pips, and they will earn and use Power Pips just like a Wizard.
- More Mist Wood and Scrap Iron will be appearing in the Spiral, and should be easier for :Wizards to find as they learn the ways of Reagents and Crafting.
- Cool down timers on some recipes have been lowered to allow Wizards to create items more quickly.
- Reagents have been added as rewards for Mini Games!
- The reagents needed for Treasure Cards have been reduced, most notably the number of Treasure Card ingredients needed to create the final Treasure Card.
- The descriptions for some of the Craft-able Items were incomplete and should now reflect all the bonuses the items grant the player.
Treasure Card Updates
- Harold Argleston in the Wizard City Library, and Zan’ne in the Krokotopia Library will have some of their inventory of Treasure Cards renewed, but at a cost. Treasure Cards in the Library will be more expensive than in the Bazaar, and the Bazaar will be more expensive than Crafting your own Treasure Cards. *
- The Weapons Cache in Merkholm will once again allow players to interact with it, without having to switch Realms.
- Death Students will be acknowledged for completing the Sweet Revenge quest.
Stump Worms will be appearing once again for the Good Eats quest.
- The Wallpaper and Floor textures that had suddenly turned pink and purple for many Wizards, will once again appear as their normal wallpaper and floor patterns!
Thank you to all our young Wizards who gave us feedback and bug reports! See you in Wizard City!
- ~Professor Greyrose
A Message From Cyrus Drake
I am hearing loud and clear the message that many of you do not approve of the enhanced boss fights, or at least the way in which they were implemented.
The idea behind these was not to make the game more "hardcore", more difficult or to make it impossible to group. We simply wanted those encounters to be more interesting than 1. Defeat Monster, 2. Collect Loot. Each of the we changed bosses had a twist on normal combat, or required a specific strategy to be employed, like a puzzle.
Rest assured, we have heard your displeasure, and we will re-visit the boss fights very soon.

Kingsisle Entertainment to Launch New Wizard101 World: Grizzleheim
Online entertainment company KingsIsle Entertainment, Inc. today officially revealed plans for Grizzleheim, a new 3D world to be added to the popular virtual world Wizard101.
The often silly characters and worlds of Wizard101 are influenced by literature; history and pop culture that give the game a depth and quality appreciated by adults, and make it enjoyable for families to play together. Safety features aimed at pre-teen players include a collaborative play style, a chat system with many options and a character name selector.
Inspired by Norse mythology, Grizzleheim is an airy, outdoor landscape of snowy mountains, glacial ridges and towering trees that is home to three new Wizard101 tribes - Bears, Wolves and Ravens. Players will first encounter the Viking Bears of Grizzleheim, great traders with the ability to travel the worlds of the Spiral, in the free-to-play areas of WizardCity. As student wizards adventure through subseq uent worlds, Grizzleheim will offer new quests, new locations to explore, new opponents and new Viking-themed decorative housing items interspersed throughout the mid and higher levels of the game.
Grizzleheim is expected to roll out beginning in June. As with other new content, the world will launch first on the Wizard101 test server, where subscribers will help beta test features before it goes live in the game. Wizard101 has an ESRB rating of E10+. Pre-paid gift cards are available at major U.S. retailers.
Housing in Wizard City
Beginning in the fantasy-inspired world of Wizard City, a turtle character named "Buxley Turtleton" is the Castles and Lands vendor who allows players to choose a type of Wizard City-themed house. Each world in the game will have a turtle character that sells the Castles and Lands which correspond to the world the player is in at that time. Players can teleport to their own house or over to a friend’s house via their Friends List. Decorations can be obtained through many methods including in-game gold, PvP Arena Points, quest rewards, exploration, defeat of selected bosses, common or rare enemy drops and Crown (microtransaction) purchase. Features include:
- Three tiers of housing: Dorm, Modest Private and Luxury Private
- Two housing styles for each of five current worlds, beginning with Wizard City.
- Over 1,000 decorative housing items such as plants, statues, wall hangings, columns, pictures, furniture and more.
- Many variations, including more than 20 types of detailed wallpaper and flooring.
Housing can take some time to build, especially with the current demand. If you purchase housing and can not enter please wait another 15 minutes before trying again.

Wizard101 Weekend Assignment February 20
Many of you have given us some GREAT feedback about what has affectionately become known as THE Fizzle Bug.
For those of you not familiar with this bug, its symptoms are round after round (particularly in PvP) of all players fizzling ALL their spells, including 100% wand spells. (Now I'm not referring to just a bad streak of fizzles, this is something that will affect the entire team for the remainder of the duel.)
We're pretty sure that we've cast a strong enough spell to rid ourselves of this Fizzle Bug once and for all, but just to be sure, I want all our Wizards to try to make this bug happen in any way you know.
That is your assignment for this weekend; see if you can catch THE Fizzle Bug. If you do, post on our Message Boards in this section. We're particularly interested in: 1. Realm 2. Area 3. Location Thank you! I hope none of you encounter this bug, and don't worry this is not an assignment that you can fail.
The following issues should of been addressed in January 18'ths downtime. -Empty Friends Lists will be restored -We found the key to Grimcasters Tower in the Crucible so that door will now be unlocked. -Vika Markmaker has decided to join in on the duels once again. -Jing-han He has his memory back and will once again recall that he's given you a quest to complete. -Player vs Player teaming up issues will no longer lock players in a loop. You should be able to join matches and team up as normal And once again, thank you to our fans who have been dedicated to letting us know all they can about these issues so that we can quickly address them. You are what makes Wizard101 fun for everyone.
Wizard101 Downtime Feb 16

During this downtime players will not be able to log in to the game, and players who are in the game will need to log out. Thank you!

All Announcements Courtesy of Wizard 101 Community Announcements
As of Monday 9th February the Wiki link will be on the Wizard 101 Fanpage. This is awesome news - more than likely meaning more people will find the site, make use of everyone's hard work and possibly put in some of their own!
We have now cleared over 2000 articles - this is absolutely awesome! A lot of work has gone into getting the information for Wizard City together and displayed, and finally the light at the end of the tunnel seems to glimmer in the distance - with this momentous task drawing to conclusion. It will take a couple more weeks to finish adding the final touches, and of course the information will probably continue to go up as rare items drop, and yearly events roll around. Fantastic efforts to everyone who has added information in this time - it is due to you that this site is quickly become a good resource for the game and I hope many of you stay with it as we move on to Krokotopia and beyond - maybe we can even catch up before too many more worlds get added!
If you cannot find an answer within the wiki leave your question on the FAQ page. If you know the answer to question there or have more information to share on one of the questions please edit. Your help will be appreciated!!! The FAQ page will be checked by the Admins often.
Adding and Editing
If you wish to add a page, bravo, you will be helping everyone who uses this Wiki. A simple request however is to use the templates to ensure that it fits the look of the other pages and ensures your new page can be found. We generally do not delete content but may move it to a more suitable location, or merge it if it is pre-existing. If you wonder where something you have created has gone email the admins. Basic templates have been created for most sections, use templates by putting in saving - the template will then load and you can add your information into the loaded format! Templates currently exist for Locations, Items, Quests, NPC, Spells. There are also a lot of categories to help keep the data sorted and easy to find, if in doubt put it in the main category. If you wish to edit an existing page - feel free, this is what a wiki is about. Please do not delete another persons valuable addition unless you know it is wrong - it is better to move it to the discussion tab and wait for it to be validated by someone else than to be wrong yourself. Admins have a formidable task of keeping the information sorted, patrolling some of the vandalism that gets added and verifying facts. As well as adding their own pages. All assistance is appreciated - you can report problems, email them or leave a message on their user page - they will get to the issue as soon as possible. If you feel confident enough feel free to try fix the issue yourself, even if you make a mistake it is fairly easy for the admins to fix it later, the effort will be greatly appreciated and you will learn and do better next time. Most of all feel good in knowing you are improving the Wiki, and helping Wizards all across the Spiral.
Diego the Duelmaster is an NPC located just outside of the arena. He sells over 120 items that can all be purchased with arena tickets. This gear is all "No Trade" and "No Auction" so that once you buy it, your current wizard has it for good. The best gear that is sold here is the Commander gear, which requires an arena rank of Commander to purchase it. This set of gear consists of the Cowl of Tribulation, the Coat of Invincibility, and the Footgear of the Indomitable. When combined these items produce some amazing stats for your wizard in duels, but outside of duels, this gear is completely useless because it reduces a player's mana by 100%. (therefore a player can not cast any spells requiring pips) In addition to the commander gear, Diego sells sets of items that can only be purchased when a wizard is above a certain level and in a specific school. Unlike the Commander gear, these items can be worn outside of the arena and give your wizard wonderful boosts for their school.

We are still looking for images of Zeke's retired items. We still endeavor to document all of the items that were for sale and their stats. Our admin team is direly in need of a source of the items that were sold in Marleybone and Moo Shu. (An admin has a complete list of the Wizard City and Krokotopia Items.) Anyone with one of the retired items please begin a new article with the item's name as the title. Any contributions are greatly appreciated!
